Great tips on the meat CSA, Wendy! I keep waffling on a fish CSA . . . we don't eat enough meat to do a meat share, but we do love fish. Pickup times are inconvenient for me, though, and even a 1/2 share is a lot. Maybe in the fall I'll give it a go - I hear the flavor of both meat & fish are FANTASTIC.

As a single person I just couldn't eat enough of the veggies to make my Waltham Fields CSA work...even when I split it with someone. But I LOVE my meat CSA Chestnut Farms which I split with another member. We each get 10 lbs of meat, cryopac frozen, every other month. In these days of pink slime and mad cow it's nice to know my meat is being raised locally, grass fed, with no hormones or antibiotics and humanely slaughtered. And the meat is much leaner and SO much more flavorful than anything you can find in supermarkets. There are many meat CSA's out there and also Fish CSAs. Join one now...you'll be glad you did! Eatwild.com is a great resource for people looking for grass-fed meat and dairy.
