I think you’re safest bet is to go with the latest models . . . as with any of these things, we have to hope they’re trustworthy and that their suppliers are trustworthy!

@Semi-Sweet Sarah- I am thrilled to hear that the Rival Crock Pot’s do not contain any lead. I am in the market for a new Slow Cooker. Now would it be all of their Slow Cookers that are lead free or just the latest models? I am looking for a small 2 quart lead free slow cooker. Thank you.

@Rachel – the statement on their site says that “Hamilton Beach specifications applicable to all slow cookers and their components (including the earthenware crocks) prohibits the product from containing any measurable amounts of lead. Furthermore, the factories that manufacture the earthenware crocks for Hamilton Beach are certified ceramic production facilities whose ceramic ware is deemed to satisfy FDA heavy metal requirements. Hamilton Beach takes all reasonable steps to ensure that the earthenware crocks accompanying our slow cookers provide safe and satisfactory service to our consumers.” So, they don’t say they’re “lead free,” but they do say they’re w/i the specs set by the FDA . . . .

That is disappointing that All Clad didn’t answer both questions as I love their products and like to think that they are worth the extra expense. Like you I don’t own any nonstick products for the reasons you’ve mentioned although I’ve recently been rethinking that as I have been making a lot of eggs lately.
